Wolfsburg sees Olivier Giroud as a suitable replacement for Nicklas Bendtner who has been relieved of his duties by the German club.
Misfiring Giroud has been Arsenal’s flop of the season this year, having scored only 12 goals and provided 5 assists this season. He has not scored a goal since January.
Wolfsburg are prepared to pay the French international £5million-a-year to allow him to start his football career once again on a fresh page after a frustrating season at the emirates.
The 29 year old is no longer the fan’s favorite, as his poor performance has already costed them the EPL title, the UEFA champions’ league progression and the FA Cup, among others. They want him transferred and a world class striker brought in to take his place.
On the other side of the coin, Giroud is the perfect replacement for Nicklas Bendtner, who also played for Arsenal previously. Wolfsburg have also has a devastating season, collecting only 39 points from 32 games so far.
They are currently 10th in the Bundesliga standings, and they are planning to be more aggressive in the attack next season. Giroud is thus expected to bring a winning mentality to the team and help it contest for titles.
Wolfsburg are also keen on signing Cedric Bakambu from Villarreal. He has been a fan of the coach form some time, and the two may finally unite in this world of football where transfers are the order of the day. Cedric and Giroud are expected to work well together if the deals go through.
