Shock: Liverpool Trying to Hijack Another Arsenal Target, Klopp Already Met with Superstar’s Agent

Liverpool have reportedly entered the race along with bitter Premier League rivals Arsenal to secure the service of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka next summer.

According to our reports, Liverpool have met with the players agents in December, but have since re-opened talks after Jürgen Klopp met with the player’s representative to negotiate a move to Anfield in the future.

According to German publication Sport Bild, Liverpool manager met with the Swiss midfielder’s agent Andy Gross as he plans his signings for the summer. The former Borussia Dortmund manager has identified the Swiss midfielder as the much needed leader in the Red’s midfield.

It is clear that Liverpool wants to land the 23-year-old midfielder, thanks to his style of play of making metronomic distribution.

Xhaka has been consistently linked with Arsenal and it seems Liverpool are willing to join the race to sign the midfielder. Xhaka has already featured 15 times in the League for Monchengladbach this season, scoring three goals, and his style of play can only be compared to former-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso and current Manchester United star Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The 23-year-old midfielder is contracted to Monchengladbach until the summer of 2019 and has a £37 million release clause in his contract.

According to our sources, the German club can only allow negotiations for the Swiss international from 2017, which has left interested clubs free to negotiate a price this summer, amid reports that Monchengladbach are ready to take advantage and get a better price for the playmaker.

Monchengladbach’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has already admitted that clubs have shown interest in the midfielder but they are not willing to sell him soon.

“I would like to say clearly once again at this point: Granit Xhaka wants to stay in Monchengladbach and we do not want to sell him. He is a super player for us and will contest the second half of the season here,” Eberl said.

The 23-year-old midfielder has also admitted that he is ready to realize his childhood dream of playing in the Premier League.

Speaking to Monchenglabach fanzine torgabrik.de, Xhaka said: “I have a childhood dream, and that is the Premier League. No matter if I play second or 100 matches in England, I would one day love to fulfil that childhood dream.”

“I read about those things [speculated moves], sure, and overhear a lot of things, but it’s only speculation. I am not interested in it.

“If there was something or the club had something [an offer], then we’d sit down. But currently there is nothing. I am under contract until 2019, feel great here, and I am happy. That’s the state of things,” the Swiss midfielder said.
