SHOCKING – Chelsea Target Set For SURPRISE Move After Blues Agreed Personal Terms

A report by Spanish media outfit, Marca (via Daily Star) is saying Real Madrid are eyeing a move to hijack Chelsea transfer for Baba Rahman. This is coming days after Chelsea reportedly agreed personal terms with the player.

Baba has been one of Europe’s wanted star following his impressive outing in the Bundesliga with Augsburg last term.

Blues boss, Jose Mourinho wants to bring in a replacement for Filipe Luis who is set for a return to Atletico Madrid. Luis joined Chelsea last summer, but things did not go as planned for him, with Mourinho preferring Cesar Azpilicueta in the left-back position, thereby subjecting the Brazilian to the bench role.

A move back to Spain is now near and Mourinho has declared he is looking to sign a replacement for the 29-year old with Baba a prime target.

However, Atletico’s rival, Real Madrid are preparing a move to take the 20-year old left-back from Chelsea’s grasp.

Baba would seem a capable player to challenge Madrid’s first-choice, Marcelo in the left back role, as the Brazilian was often criticised for his inefficiencies defensively. Baba wins more tackles and interceptions than Marcelo in each game, Squawka notes.

Mourinho and the Chelsea board would need to move swiftly to seal the deal with reports saying they will make an official contact with Augsburg this week.

The Portuguese knows the importance of doing this deal before some other suitors snap the player up. He knows Baba will provide fierce challenge for the left back spot with Azpilicueta, and he is the most likely cheaper available option at the moment.

Roma are also understood to be interested in Baba, but it has been reported that should they get Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah, they will drop their interest in the young Ghanaian.

Meanwhile, the Blues have returned to Montreal after losing 4-2 to New York Red Bulls in their first pre-season fixture. They will now face Paris Saint-Germain this weekend and Barcelona on the 29th of July before the FA Community Shield fixture against Arsenal on the 2nd day of August.

Chelsea will complete their pre-season with a friendly match against Fiorentina at Stamford Bridge before beginning their Premier League title defence with a home match against Garry Monk’s Swansea at the same ground.
