SHOCKING – Manchester United To Beat Chelsea To Pedro Signing In SHOCK Deal

Reports have emanated from various UK sources that Manchester United have entered the race to land Barcelona forward, Pedro Rodriguez. As per the Guardian, the Red Devils are poised to trigger Pedro’s £22million release clause, with boss Van Gaal keen to add more attacking options to the team.

Manchester United are now set to beat Chelsea – who also want the player – in the race to sign the Spain international winger. Although he signed a new five-year contract with the Blaugrana recently, Pedro is believed to be willing to leave the Camp Nou this summer after struggling for regular game time under Luis Enrique following Suarez’ arrival.

Goal reports that Louis Van Gaal has confirmed United are not done in the transfer window yet, as he wants to improve “at least” two positions. Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have all arrive, with more to still come in.

When asked if he was expecting further arrivals, the Dutchman replied MUTV: “I hope so. No, we are not finished yet, I think.”

“We need a balance in the selection and I think we still need to improve at least two positions and we shall do that when it is possible”

Robin Van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Nani have already left the club this summer, leaving Rooney as the only recognised striker in the team.

Guardian understands the manager wants to play 4-3-3 next season and Pedro’s versatility will be of great advantage. Should he sign, a likely front three of Depay, Rooney and Pedro could be what United will field next season, with uncertainty surrounding Di Maria’s future at the club.

United will now be looking to quickly close the deal, with Chelsea also reportedly close to an agreement with the 27-year old.

The 20-time Premier League champions played their first pre-season match against Club America last night, with one of the new recruits, Morgan Schneiderlin, scoring the only goal of the game.

Pedro is a decorated winner with both club and country. He has won the World Cup, European Championship, Champions League and La Liga, so the Spanish will bring vast experience, as well as a winning mentality to complement the United team.

Man United are also targeting defensive options, with Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi on their wish list.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports have revealed that United are resigned to losing goalkeeper David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer or next, but not without the Spanish club selling them Sergio Ramos.
