Sir Alex Ferguson and David Beckham set to reunite with Yorke, Neville, Solskjaer and Giggs

Sir Alex Ferguson and David Beckham will be forming a partnership once again; this time for a one-off charity match in Australia. Becks has reportedly agreed to captain Manchester United all-star XI in a Legends match against Juventus this year.

Australian media outlet, Fairfax Media, has announced that the former England captain, famed for his accurate crossing and breathtaking free-kicks, is close to agreeing terms in order to play in the match. The 2 European giants will be facing off against each other in Sydney later this year.

Sir Alex Ferguson is favorite to manage the Manchester United team which makes for an interesting reunion after Becks and Sir Alex’s often fiery relationship in the early 2000’s. It was reported that Sir Alex once kicked a boot in anger which hit Beckham in the face and left him needing treatment.

Ferguson wrote in his autobiography: ”He was around 12 feet from me. Between us on the floor lay a row of boots. David swore. I moved towards him, and as I approached I kicked a boot. It hit him right above the eye. Of course he rose to have a go at me and the players stopped him. ‘Sit down,’ I said. ‘You’ve let your team down. You can argue as much as you like.’”

Becks left the following year but the pair have since made up and collaborated on other charity events. The Sydney morning Herald report that Dwight Yorke, Phil Neville, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ryan Giggs are also in line for a return to the pitch.
