Super Agent Jorge Mendes Offered Chelsea £25m Star
It is no longer news that Porto and Colombian striker, Jackson Martinez is rumoured to be heading to Milan this summer; but did you know that the player was offered to Chelsea by Jorge Mendes; and that is according to Italian transfer site, Tutto Mercato Web?
Perhaps, I also need to add that Mendes is the agent to both Martinez and Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea boss, Radamel Falcao, and Cristiano Ronaldo—that explains why he is referred to as super agent in the transfer market.
It is pretty obvious that things didn’t work out because Chelsea are on the verge of signing another Colombian, in the person of Radamel Falcao, whose transfer is soon to be announced by the Stanford Bridge side. Mendez, according to TMW offered Martinez to Chelsea before allowing other clubs like Milan and Arsenal an opportunity to try and sign the highly-sort after striker.
Martinez, who joined Porto from Chiapas, a Mexican club side back in 2012, scored 92 goals for the Portuguese club in all competitions. His goal scoring ability has not gone unnoticed, though, as several clubs including Arsenal, have been linked with a move for his signature.
However, all that seems to be in the past now as the 28-year old is now set to sign for AC Milan in a deal reported to be in the region of £25m. The deal is expected to be announced before the end of the current window, which all but signify an end to all rumours of a possible move to Chelsea or any other club in the EPL.
