Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger will have to intensify his pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets as PSG have entered the race to sign the midfielder. Arsenal has been linked to the Spanish midfielder for quite some time now and were rumoured to be on the verge of landing the 27 year old but PSG has thrown a spanner into Arsenal wheel by entering the race to sign Busquets.
The London club have reportedly launched a £24 million bid to sign Sergio Busquets but Barcelona are demanding a fee around £30 million for Busquets. Paris St Germain should have no problems shelling out a fee of about 30 million pounds for a player of Sergio Busquets talents.
Arsene Wenger has been very much in the market for a defensive midfielder to replace the likes of Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini who are starting to age. After being beaten to the signatures of defensive midfielders like Schneirderlin and Vidal, the French boss will be disappointed that PSG are planning on hijacking his deal for Sergio Busquets in coming days.
However there is light at the end of the tunnel for Arsenal, as the transfer of Busquets to PSG will hand Arsenal a boost in signing Thiago Motta who has also been linked to Arsenal. Busquets arrival will make it possible to sign Thiago Motta at a cheap price due to PSG’s need to offload players due to balance their midfield.
Thiago Motta might not be as talented as Busquets but the Italian has a vast wealth of experience that can greatly benefit Arsenal. Thiago Motta is a versatile and tireless midfielder, the Italian’s tactical ability and defensive contributions makes him stand out among other top midfielders. Arsenal fans should not be disappointed if they eventually fail to sign Busquets, it might open the door for the arrival of a gem such as Thiago Motta into the team.
