Surprise, Chelsea Want 6ft5 Player, He Has 31 Caps For His Country

Chelsea are planning a shock swoop for Krylia Sovetov Samara goalkeeper Giorgi Loria, as per Portuguese newspaper O jogo [per Tuttomercatoweb].

The 6ft5 shot-stopper is a 31-time capped Georgia international, who only joined Krylia from Greek outfit Olympiakos during the summer and could now be plying his trade with reigning Premier League champions Chelsea in January.

Loria, 29, enjoyed most of his successes at his first club Dinamo Tbilisi having spent nine years at the Georgian club, winning three league titles, three Georgian cups as well as the Georgian Super Cup.

O jogo is now reporting that Chelsea are keen on Loria as they source for goalkeeping covers for Asmir Begovic who stepped in to be the Blues number one goalie following a long term injury to first-choice Thibaut Courtois.

Begovic joined Chelsea from Stoke City during the summer after the West Londoners had sold Petr Cech to Arsenal and, the Bosnian has kept five times for Chelsea in the league, keeping only one clean sheet – against Arsenal last weekend.

Meanwhile, the Blues currently languish in 15th place after their woeful performances this season was reignited yesterday against a winless Newcastle United side. Jose Mourinho slammed the first half performances of his boys, although he said they played better in the second half. Chelsea have only been able to muster to wins in their first seven games, suffering defeats on three occasions and drawing two.

Mourinho fears any injury to Begovic will further put their season in jeopardy, hence, the Portuguese boss has moved to quickly earmark Loria as an ideal fit and the deal could go through in the new year.
