The end of Fabregas? Chelsea to announce signing of £25m rated creative midfielder
The Stamford Bridge club are said to be after AS Monaco midfielder, Bernardo Silva. Mourinho sees the player as a potential replacement for current blues playmaker, Oscar, who has been constantly linked to Serie A champions, Juventus, who see him as a prime target.
Bernardo Silva is a Benfica youth product and shone in the youth team of the Lisbon club before leaving for France on an initial loan deal in the summer of 2014 before making it permanent in January this year. He has represented Portugal at junior levels and he was given his full debut in March this year against Cape Verde.
The Portuguese playmaker, 21, arrived to Monaco in the summer of 2014 and has cemented his place in the heart of midfield for the club, scoring three goals in sixteen appearances for the Ligue 1 club to take them to third on the table though they are seventeen points behind runaway league leaders, Paris Saint Germain.
The playmaker won’t come cheap though as his current contract runs through 2019 and Monaco will be looking to drive a hard bargain as they did in the deal that took Anthony Martial to Manchester United.
