Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has played with a host of football superstars during his illustrious career. He has played with the likes of Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Xavi, Iniesta and Ronaldinho during his time at Barcelona. He has also played along with the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Patrick Vieira for his club and country. But when recently asked about the best player he has played with, none of these obvious choices was his answer.
According to the World Cup winner, Dutch magician Dennis Bergkamp is the best player he has played with during the course of his career. Henry told Sky Sports: “Because of longevity, and because I saw him every day in training for seven years, Bergkamp. Why? Because he was always doing what the game was asking him to do. I admired how Dennis was always trying to respect the game. He could score but he could also pass and wait for the right moment.”
Dennis Bergkamp recently shared his admiration fo Thierry Henry when he shared following photo on his Instagram account:
“He was always trying to respect the game when he could do other stuff. I respected him a lot for that but also the way he trained. The way he used to train was just not normal. The guy didn’t want to lose the ball; he would foul you; get in your face; he wants to be first in the run. But then I have to mention the freaks… Messi is a freak. I think fans do not understand what the guy is doing. Him, Zidane, all these guys, you cannot do what they do, because it’s not humanly possible.’
Both of these greats are regarded as the best players to have played for the Gunners. They played together for seven years for the North London club and won two Premier League trophies and three FA Cups during their time together.
They were also the part of the Invincibles team of the 2003-04 season.
