This £95,000-A-Week VERSATILE Defender Set Chelsea Move In January – Report

Reports out of the Mirror have it that Branislav Ivanovic is set to face the axe at Stamford Bridge following a miserable start to the new campaign.

The 31-year old Serbian central defender turned right back only has one year left on his current contract with the Blues and with the veteran struggling for form at the start of the season, he appears set to join the list of high profile player to switch to the MLS according to the aforementioned source.

The Serbian who is the current vice-captain at Chelsea following the departure of Petr Cech to Arsenal was one of the key figures for the Blues last season as he put in high quality perfomances consistently even earning him a place in the EPL Team of the Year. However, that form seems to have deserted him as he looks a shadow of the player he was last season.

With the arrival of Ghanaian left back Abdul Baba Rahman from Bundesliga side, Augsburg, the Mirror have claimed that Mourinho is set to move Cesar Azpilicueta to his favoured right back position at the expense of Ivanovic in order to accomodate the club’s new fullback as he is seen as the long-term solution to their left back worries.

This reported change in personnel will add pace to the Blues slow and ageing backline that has been ruthlessly exposed this season conceding nine goals in four matches.
