Tottenham & Arsenal Chasing Striker Who Scored 13 Goals in 32 App

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs have been linked to Nigeria and Fenerbahce forward, Emmanuel Emenike as the January transfer window approaches. The bitter rivals are said to be going head-to-head for the 27-year-old powerful forward according to TalkSPORT. Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino, the managers of the two English Premier League clubs, have been linked to many different attackers which indicates that they may be desperate to add to their forward line come January. Emenike no doubt, is an attacker with the build of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, his compatriot who played many years for Portsmouth and Everton, in the English Premier League. His frame in addition to his goal scoring prowess has made him appear a perfect fit for the very physical and fast game of the EPL.

Emenike has scored 13 goals in 32 Turkish League appearances for Fenerbahce since joining them last year and was joint top scorer at the 2013 edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside Wakaso Mubarak of Ghana with 4 goals each. The player was also an important part of the Nigerian delegation that achieved a round of 16 spot, losing to France at the 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil earlier this year. The player has since then attracted players from across Europe but it is left to be seen if his Turkish club would be willing to do business with any of the two English Premier League clubs, said to be on his trail. While Tottenham Hotspur could be in hot pursuit of the powerful attacker, the report linking him to Arsenal is a very questionable one. Pochettino is reportedly keen on the expansion of his options upfront with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, the out and out forwards in his squad. Therefore, clinching Nigerian forward could be a huge step for the Italian manager. Also, with Tottenham, Emenike’s goal scoring record could improve impressively because of the presence and services of players like Aaron Lennon, Moussa Dembele, Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamella and Andros Townsend.

However, many Arsenal supporters believe that if Arsene Wenger would bring in another attacker in January or next summer, some attackers have to leave the Emirates. Therefore, looking at the Arsenal attacking line, Luka Podolski and Joel Campbell would be the usual players to sacrifice for any other attacker. But if they must leave, it only makes sense for Wenger to bring in an attacker with intimidating record and qualities or at least better than these two player. However, Emmanuel Emenike isn’t even in the class of Lukas Podolski in terms of their goal scoring records and it doesn’t seem Wenger would sell Joel Campbell in January or even next summer. With these calculations, it would be very difficult to imagine a spot for Emmanuel Emenike in the start studded Arsenal attack line.

Due to injury to Olivier Giroud, who Arsene Wenger has expressed his surprise at his speedy recovery rate, Arsenal secured a £16m deal to bring in Danny Welbeck from Manchester United and the player had since hit the ground running at Arsenal, especially with a goal against Aston Villa and a hatrick in the 4-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Galatasaray recently.
