Transfer Merry Go Round – Fellaini To Everton, Coleman To United

Manchester United are offering out-of-favor mid-fielder Marouane Fellaini a way out of the club. He is to be to be included as part exchange for the services of Everton’s Seamus Coleman. The Toffees full back is one of the players under Van Gaal’s radar and a bid is expected to be tabled this january according to reports from the Guardian.

United will face stiff opposition in Chelsea who are also considering him to be the club’s first choice fullback ahead of Branislav Ivanovic and Caesar Azpilicueta. Although, The 25years old will cost a fortune as he is currently tied to the Toffees till 2019, Jose Mourinho is optimistic that Mick Doherty, (the man who scouted Seamus) who  has now moved to Stamford Bridge, will help in convincing the coveted player.

While it is true that Fellaini’s form had been anything but encouraging, the idea of having some funds in addition to the mid-fielder’s services might likely attract Roberto Martinez.

However, the Belgian has insisted that his place is still at Old Trafford having turned down a last minute attempt form Napoli this summer. He claimed to have discussed with Van Gaal who assured him of some game time only if he proves himself considering the stiff competition for a place in the starting line up.

Manchester United’s mid-field is already choked up as it is with Herrera, Di Maria and Blind forming half of Van Gaal’s diamond, with vice-captain, Darren Fletcher being used as a substitute. Considering the injured Micheal Carrick and the possible option of playing Rooney or even Januzaj in a more deeper role, it will be safe to say Fellaini has an uphill task before him. Also for United to keep him on payroll when he could be swapped for a versatile fullback who can bring some competition to Rafael on the right, he would have to displace either of Herrera or Fletcher before the january window. If United’s priority is getting a Champions League spot then they cannot afford to keep backlogs.
