Trouble Times For Chelsea? Costa Could Get Mourinho Treatment

Chelsea Diego Costa may have incurred the wrath of his manager after declaring himself fit to play for Spain in their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifies against Slovakia and Luxembourg. Costa has been nursing a niggling hamstring injury since his £32m move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea. Chelsea manager and physios have tried to structure a training regimen for him to help relax his tight muscle after games and expedite his recovery to full fitness.

There have always been fear over the 25-year-old fitness going into any game but after playing 90minutes against Sporting Lisbon in the champions league midweek, Costa has come out to declare he is fit and rearing to go if selected by coach Vicente Del Bosque for the La furia Roja’s Euro 2016 qualifies against European minors Slovakia and Luxembourg.

Diego Costa said “I hope I am okay to go with Spain….,If I played 90 minutes it is clear that I am fine.

“I am feeling better all the time, and it is the boss’s [Del Bosque’s] decision.”

Mourinho had earlier labelled playing Costa against Sporting Lisbon a risk and after speaking extensively on the player’s injury woes, craves the player’s exclusion from national assignment in the upcoming week.

Mourinho said last week: “Diego’s doing almost nothing. He’s just resting and recovering from the tight muscle he has every time he accumulates fatigue.

“I think if he doesn’t go to the national team, and stays here for 15 days of treatment, recovering, and making muscle and the other areas around muscle stronger. I think he has perfect chance to be top for Chelsea and the national team.

“If he doesn’t have this period, he will be always play one game and the other game he is in trouble. The muscle is in danger of rupturing.”

Its evident Jose Mourinho wants his star man to put club before national team as the last time the player went on national assignment with Spain against France in a friendly, he returned injured and the player’s recent comments may have irked the manger who is known to be ruthless with players when they defy his wish. Mourinho is known to have had rows in the past with players over honouring national assignment while carrying one level of injury or the other chiefly among them are Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos when he was at Real Madrid.

Diego Costa however, believes Mourinho will understand his decision and does not foresee any disagreement between his club manager and Vicente Del Bosque. Diego Costa represented Brazil his native country in two friendly matches against Italy and Russia back in October 2013 before switching allegiance to his adopted country- Spain and has had six caps to his credit already including three world cup matches at the FIFA Brazil 2014 world cup.
