Two Chelsea Stars Suffer Massive Injury Blow On International Duty

Chelsea right-back and Serbian team captain, Branislav Ivanovic and defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic suffered injuries in their international  European Championship qualifying group 1 match against Albania as Serbia scored two late goals to win the match 2-0 over Albania.

The duo of Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic had to be substituted during the match due to injuries they both suffered. Although, it is unclear at this time what Matic’s injury is and even if he is injured but Ivanovic is apparently surely nursing a hamstring injury which might force him to the sidelines for about two to three weeks.

Ivanovic was substituted at the 65th minute with a hamstring injury before Matic was also substituted eight minutes later with an injury he probably got even before Ivanovic’s injury as he was obviously struggling.

This will be very sad news for Chelsea fans and especially the manager Jose Mourinho whose plans may have been thrown into shambles at the moment with these two important injuries.

Chelsea face Aston Villa next in the English Premiership in nine days’ time and they travel the next week to play Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.

Although, Matic’s injury may not be that crippling as he was able to join his teammates to celebrate the goal at the sidelines but his case might not be so important for Mourinho at the moment because of the problem between the player and the manager which made him start the player on the bench against Southampton. He brought him on later and few minutes after, removed same player but Ivanovic’s injury might be problematic for him right now.
