UCL Winning DUO To Sign For Chelsea In January

Chelsea ‘s long-serving  stalwarts Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry could be left out yet again for Chelsea’s match against Arsenal. The duo have not had the best of times so far in the early stages of this season and were left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad on Wednesday. The exemption of both players from the squad seemed to have done Chelsea more good than harm as they triumph to a 4-0 win and also kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Other first team players like Costa and Fabregas who are still yet to make their mark for Chelsea this season would be delighted to get on the score sheet and will be hoping that the goals can jump-start their confidence ahead of the Arsenal clash. Apparently Jose Mourinho is expected to field the same starting line-up he used for the Maccabi Tel-Aviv match against Arsenal.

The full-back pairing of Rahman and Azpilicueta on the left and right side of the defence respectively ensured Ivanovic was kept out of the team. Also, Jose Mourinho is expected to continue with the centre-back pairing of both Cahill and Zouma due to the pace of the Arsenal attack. The Portuguese manager faces a tough decision to make as he contemplates on whether to bank on the experience of Ivanovic and Terry against Arsenal or to field a young and vibrant back four.

Both defenders have already had problems dealing with fast players this season. Terry was substituted at half-time against City due to his slow pace while Ivanovic has been getting beaten by players with pace constantly this season and a likely square up against Alexis Sanchez leaves much to doubt about the Serbian’s eligibility to feature against Arsenal.
