United reached an agreement with Renato Sanches for £47.5m according to Portuguese media
If the transfer rumors linking several world-class players to Manchester United become done deals in the summer, Old Trafford will go back to its glory days. It will go back to the Sir Alex Ferguson’s ‘theatre of dreams’ if young and promising players such as Renato Sanches join the club and perform.
At only 18, Renato Sanches has already shown the football world that he can go very far. He has enjoyed a successful season at Benfica, scoring two goals and making a huge contribution to the team’s success in 21 appearances.
This has left big European teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Juventus looking for his signature. However, Manchester United are the favorites to sign the Portuguese international, with transfer talks currently being at advanced stages.
Consequently, Renato Sanches is unlikely to sign a contract extension with Benfica, since a move to the England giants is quite likely. His release clause is £63m, but a bid of £47.5m from Manchester United will see the in-demand midfielder leave the Estadio da Luz to join his age mates Marcus Rashford and Fosu Mensah at Old Trafford.
Hopefully he can do so at Manchester United, whose current team of young players continues to make important strides in regaining the lost glory since the departure of the most successful and longest serving coach, Sir Alex Ferguson.
