Van Gaal has given up, will resign after Chelsea game no matter the result, new manager to be officially unveiled this week

Man Utd manager Louis Van Gaal is counting his days at Old Trafford, as he is to be sacked from his post at the club in the coming week. Spanish publication claims that the Dutchman will be fired from his job after a disastrous run of games during past two months. There are also rumours circulating that Van Gaal will himself quit from the before the home game against Chelsea.

The Red Devils have failed to win a game in their last seven attempts, and their defeat against Stoke City, their fourth consecutive, was the last nail in Van Gaal’s job. The Man Utd manager was reportedly missing in the yesterday’s training, and Man Utd board has already found his replacement. The Spanish daily claims that former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is expected to take over at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese manager was sacked from his post at Chelsea couple of weeks ago, and since then he has been strongly linked to the job at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2014, and led the club to the fourth place finish in the League. He has been severely criticized by the fans for the boring style of his play, since the start of the season. But his latest failures to achieve results have finally convinced the United board to look for other options.
Mourinho, who won the Premier League last season, happens to be available and willing to take the job, which he once coveted.
