During the January transfer window, Manchester United were in the market trying to find a solution to ease their injury woes with Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Ashly Young and Marcos Rojo sidelined.
It was evident that the Red Devils need a full-back and they approached Inter Milan defender Yuto Nagatomo, who will be out of contract with the Italian giants in the summer.
It was so unfortunate that the Japan international rejected the offer, and he has now confirmed that he indeed snubbed a move to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
“I like everything about Inter, I want to stay here and renew my contract,” the defender told the club’s TV channel.
“I turned down an offer from Manchester United, as my desire is to stay here. I have an excellent rapport with Roberto Mancini.
“I love Italy. I’ve been here for five years now and I feel at home. Hopefully, when I finish my career, I can stay in Italy.
“This season is my best spell at Inter. We have a great group here and I get on well with everyone.”
Manu did not make any additions to the first team squad in January and will be depending on the recovery of their injured player.
