Brazilian Championship Roundup week 2: Gremio lead with authorithy, Fluminense surprise Atletico MG

This weekend we had the second round of the Brazilian Championship. Of the 10 matches, we hit 6 in our predictions. Below a summary of the main matches of the round:

Atletico GO 0-3 Flamengo

After disqualification from the Libertadores Cup in mid-week, Flamengo went away to get a good victory at Atletico. In spite of playing with the weakest team in the championship, in predictions and the reality of two rounds, the result was important to increase the confidence of the team.

Vasco 2-1 Bahio

After returning from the second division, and having lost the first game, Vasco played in their San Januario stadium in front of a good crowd. The team faced Bahia, who had thrashed Atletico-PR in the first round. With a good game from Luis Fabiano, who scored his 400th career goal, Vasco dominated the match and led 2-0 before Bahia’s Gustavo scored a consolation goal late on.

Vitoria 0-1 Corinthians

If they’re not a team that plays beautiful football, at least they’re a team that gets results. This is the summary of Corinthians this season and in the match of yesterday. Again the team controlled the match, well posted on the defensive line. They had a few chances, one after Jadson’s foul and two for Jo, one of which he managed to score the winning goal.

Atletico MG 1-2 Fluminense

The most awaited match of the round lived up to expectations! Fluminense scored two quickfire goals near the end of the first half and managed to hold off the pressure of Atletico MG, who missed many chances. One goal wasn’t enough for the home side.

Atletico PR 0-2 Gremio

Now time for the leaders of the Brazilian championship, Gremio, who had yet another excellent match away from home against a very strong opponent. In spite of the greater possession of the ball, Atletico failed to create chances in front of goal against the Gremio defence who were very well posted. With very good touches between Ramiro, Arthur and especially the excellent player Luan, the team managed to score two goals early in the second half through Luan and the Paraguayan Barrios.

Sport 1 x 1 Cruzeiro – CORRECT PREDICTION 🙂

Sao Paulo 2 x 0 Avai – CORRECT PREDICTION 🙂
