Welcome To Emirates – Arsenal To ANNOUNCE Signing Of £80,000-A-Week Star
Daily Star via Russian media outlet Gazeta have reported that Arsenal are closing in on Dynamo Moscow’s Russian striker Aleksandr Kokorin.
The 24-year old striker has been attracting top European clubs with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain credited with interest in acquiring his services. Howver, his agent revealed to TASS, that the Gunners are in pole position to gazump the versatile attacker after it was reported by the Daily Star that United were leading the race for his signature a week ago.
The need for a center forward that can consistently find the back of the net at the Emirates has been a priority with the fans and club legend, Thierry Henry stating that the club should go into the market for another striker to enable them mount a serious title challenge this season and help them improve on their round of 16 exit in the last Champions League.
Kokorin is an experienced international despite being just 24 years old. He featured for Russia at the Euro 2012 championship and the 2014 World Cup. He has spent his entire senior career at Dynamo Moscow apart from a brief stint at Anzhi Makhachkala where he was signed but due to some restructuring at the club, he was sold back to Dynamo without even making an appearance.
Kokorin who has found the back of the net 45 times in 193 appearances for Dynamo Moscow had his breakthrough season in 2012-2013, thus leading his club to insert a €19 million release clause into his contract. His release clause would not be a stumbling block for a club like Arsenal but it remains to be seen if he can consistently find the backk of the net in the Premier League.
