There’s a high probability that Baba Rahman will be playing in England next season as Arsenal have reportedly held talks with the left back’s agent regarding a possible move.
Metro also reported that Arsenal are already ‘in talks’ with the Baba’s agent. According to the mirror however, Arsenal will have to battle Chelsea for the signature of the ‘Bundesliga starlet’.
Baba helped Augsburg to a fifth place finish in the Bundesliga last season, and because of his fantastic performance in the league, Europe top clubs have been looking to add the youngster to their sides. It was reported last week that the likes of Juventus and Manchester City are also interested.
EPL Champions, Chelsea have already made a bid for the 20-year old, according to reports. Real Madrid are also keen on the Ghanaian international. German publication, Bild have, however claimed Arsenal have also entered the race to sign Baba.
Chelsea see the Augsburg left back as a possible replacement for Filipe Luis, who they might allow to leave. Arsenal, despite having Kierran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal in the left back position, see Baba Rahman as one for the future.
Therefore, Arsenal may let either of their two left backs leave or lose out on signing Baba to Chelsea.
Sascha Empascher, Baba Rahman’s representative, is said to have travelled to England last week to hold talk with The Blues, according to Italian journalist, Di Marzio. Arsenal – who are also set to join the bidding – need to act fast, as they are in contention with Chelsea for the powerful left back’s signature.
With Augsburg holding out for £14 million as Baba’s transfer fee, any of these interested clubs can easily afford him.
