Welcome To Manchester – BID ACCEPTED For High Rated United Target

Manchester United might have lost out on yet another of their target if a report by the Metro is anything to go by. According to the British news media house, Manchester City have beaten United to the signing of high rated young striker Patrick Roberts.

Manchester United were thought to be the likeliest club to sign the 18 year old Fulham striker few weeks ago. In fact, some reports had claimed the player has agreed personal terms with the club but today, Metro are reporting Manchester City has reached an agreement to sign the player for a £8m transfer fee.

It is obvious City are signing him so as to meet the home grown quota of 8 players. They currently have just three home grown players according to reports.

Fulham were keen on keeping the player but it seems they have admitted defeat as the player has so far refused to sign a new contract and they risk losing him for free next summer.

Roberts was also linked to Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.
