With a lot of players being linked to Manchester United in the closing stages of the transfer window, no one is sure about who will end up at Manchester United after the window closes. However one thing everyone is sure about  is that Manchester United need to sign at least a quality player with pace and creativity to be title contenders.

The Red Devils are yet to replace the pace and creativity void left by Di Maria and it might yet come back to haunt them despite winning all of their matches so far. Louis Van Gaal clearly stated the need for a player with pace and creativity to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

The Dutchman cited numerous examples on the amount of pace and creativity available to each big teams. But yet the United manager allowed Pedro Rodriguez to be hijacked by Chelsea. With the transfer of Pedro to Chelsea, Otamendi to Man City and the Citizens closing in on Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

The Red Devils risked being left far behind by their rivals except Manchester United make their own key signing. Nevertheless, a lot of United fans will hope Manchester United losing out on Pedro will mean something better in store for the club, which could be true according to recent reports.

Louis Van Gaal has reportedly told his close friends that Manchester United are close to signing Welshman Gareth Bale. However it remains to be seen if Manchester United will pay his whole transfer fee in full or they would use Madrid interest in David De Gea to cut a deal. Either way signing Gareth Bale would be a massive boost to the team and could propel Manchester United onto the level their rivals are now.
