Welcome To Old Trafford – Manchester United Set To Sign Two Times UCL Winner

Manchester United want to make one final attempt to bring in a marquee forward, and as per the Telegragh, they are readying a mammoth £73m offer to sign Bayern Munich forward Arjen Robben before September 2.

There is a growing sense of insecurity among United fans after the club have failed in all their attempts to sign a top quality forward and also a defender this summer, since the last transfer business they did – which was the free signing of Argentinian goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Bayern’s Thomas Muller seems to also be set to stay at the Allianz Arena after reports emerged that the German ace will be offered an improved contract soon, and Gareth Bale of Real Madrid is also unlikely to be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. Therefore, United manager Louis van Gaal has turned attentions to Robben, who he worked with in the Netherlands national team.

The feeling among many is that Wayne Rooney needs a top forward to support him in the attack and it appears United will finally get one after all. It is claimed van Gaal has about £100m war-chest left, and the Dutchman is ready to spend out of it to bring in the former Chelsea forward to Old Trafford.

The fleet-footed player – who has just been named captain of the Netherlands national team – is one of the best players in the world and van Gaal gave him the chance to express himself under the former Bayern boss in the Netherlands national team. Robben, 31, missed a large chunk of the Bundesliga campaign for Bayern last season but the left-footed winger still managed to end up as the Bavarians’ joint top scorer with 17.

Although it is unlikely that Bayern will let Robben leave the Allianz Arena, that £73m offer could be too hard to resist and if that happens, Louis van Gaal’s side are really going to be huge favourites for the Premier League title.
