Welcome To Old Trafford – Manchester United Set To Sign World Cup Winning Arsenal Target
Roughly a year after helping Germany clinch the World Cup trophy in Brazil with his solitary goal,
Manchester United target Mario Gotze has apparently spilled the beans that his relationship with manager Pep Guardiola appears non-existent and he wants the Spanish tactician to talk to him more as he could leave if things do not change, writes the Daily Star.
This development has given United a renewed hope of landing the midfielder cum attacker. Gotze, 23, has received flattering attentions from several European sides this summer after having it tough at the Allianz Arena last term. The former Dortmund ace was partly inconsistent last season and as a result, he got dropped for crucial games with the Champions League semi-final being the most prominent one he failed to start.
United and their Premier League rivals, Chelsea and Arsenal are also reported suitors for the Germany international player who has now declared he could be forced to part ways with the Bundesliga giants if the situation does not improve.
Gotze who was on the score sheet in Bayern’s pre-season win over AC Milan on Tuesday said, as per the Guardian that his two years at the reigning BuLi champions has not been satisfying, despite winning the league consecutively.
“I played a pretty good game today. Now we will see what will happen,” said Gotze at the end of the match. “It is clear that the last few years were not that easy.”
The young Germany star has been left to languish on the bench by Guardiola instead of choosing him to spearhead the team’s attacking midfield. The player who played full 90 minutes on 16 occasions out of the 34 times he featured last term has now been keenly targeted by the Red Devils.
“We will see what happens. We will see if he (Guardiola) will speak to me more often.
“Now I will just let things come to me. For everything else we will have to see.”
Gotze’s agent also fueled speculation of an exit earlier in the summer by claiming Guardiola has ruined his client. As things stand now, Gotze’s situation could even get worse with the club’s summer acquisition of former Juventus’ tough tackler Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa who was also purchased from Shakhtar Donestk.
Gotze’s versatility will serve as a great advantage for United, provided they sign him, and they should really go all out to sign the player with Angel Di Maria having left for a new adventure at PSG.
The Bayern Munich star can play on either wings as an attacker, and also in the central midfield role and in the hole behind the strikers. Advantage United, indeed!
