20-time English champions Manchester United have identified Southampton and Senegalese forward Sadio Mane as the perfect solution to their lack of goals. According to reports, a bid of £20m is currently being prepared by the club for the former Red Bull Salzburg forward having missed out on him in the summer. Louis Van Gaal was unable to prise Sadio Mane away from the Saints after luring French midfielder and former Southampton colleague Morgan Schneiderlin to Old Trafford with the promise of Champions League football.
The need for pace, power, strength and creativity in the wide areas has never been more evident than at present for Manchester United as they continue to struggle this season and Louis Van Gaal has immediately identified that as an area of strengthening in the January transfer window with the possible arrival of Mane.
It remains to be seen whether Southampton, a club that has overseen massive player exodus in the last few years, would be willing to let go of a key player in the January transfer window.
The high rated African has also been linked with a move to both Liverpool and Chelsea. However, United should be a much more attractive prospect should it come to a situation whereby he has to make a choice of where he wants to go to.
