Welcome To Stamford Bridge – Chelsea On The Verge Of £21m Signing

It seems like the disappointment of losing out to city rivals Inter Milan on the transfer of Geoffrey Kondogbia has spurred AC Milan to act swiftly on the transfer front, prompting a £21 million offer from the Rossoneri for Zenit’s Belgian star Axel Witsel.

Kondogbia to Milan seemed like a done deal, until rivals Inter entered the fray at the eleventh hour and hijacked the deal.

Fresh from the disappointment of losing their main target,Milan have now turned their attention to the 26 year old Belgian International and are confident of signing him despite genuine interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

The deal is set to be announced later today. The player’s representative have reportedly already agreed personal terms with Milan who are prepared to meet Zenit’s valuation of £21 million for the player.

Milan have a big transfer kitty to spend this summer owing to the fresh Thai investment in the club and have wasted no time in splashing the cash. There were rumours of a formal bid from Chelsea as well, but it seems Milan has won the race for Witsel’s signature.

Once coveted by all the top European clubs, Witsel’s career has somewhat stalled since joining Zenit in 2012. However, having amassed over 50 caps for Belgium, Witsel is an experienced head who can help Milan regain their place among European elite.
