Welcome To Stamford Bridge – World Cup Finalist Set To Sign For Chelsea, £20m Deal Imminent

With few days left to go in the transfer window, Chelsea are  reportedly lining up a deal for Zenit St Petersburg Ezequiel Garay in the event of failing to land Everton defender John Stones. According to reports the Blues are understood to be in negotiations with Zenit St Petersburg over the transfer of the Argentine defender.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on reshaping his defence after conceding eight goals already in three matches. The Blues conceded 32 goals last season in the Premier League which was the lowest amount of goals conceded by any team and so far so good they have already let in eight goals which should be worrying for Jose Mourinho.

The Chelsea manager was forced to substitute John Terry at halftime against Manchester City with claims that the Chelsea skipper lacked the pace to continue the game which might further show how much Chelsea need a defender. The Blues have highlighted Everton defender as a transfer window target and a long term replacement for John Terry. However Chelsea have had no luck in their pursuit, with several bids rejected by Everton.

A recent statement by Everton’s chairman will further dash Chelsea’s hopes of signing John Stones as he said “Since the start of the transfer window, we have resolutely turned down offers from another Premier League football club for our player,”John is not for sale and he will remain a highly valued member of our first-team squad.” Apparently, Chelsea have initiated contact with Zenit St Petersburg in a bid to land Ezequiel Garay. The Blues will definitely be hoping not to encounter the same difficulties in signing John Stones with the Argentine.
