Welcome To The Bridge – Chelsea To Complete MAJOR Signing, Medical Tomorrow

Having confirmed that Filipe Luis will be returning to Atletico Madrid, the Blues are now scouring for a new left back. Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Galatasaray left back Alex Telles as a replacement for the Atletico-bound Luis, as per reports. According to reports, the player will fly into London tomorrow to have medicals with Chelsea.

Telles has always proved himself as a reliable left back in Turkey since joining Super Lig Champions in 2013. The Brazilian left back has now been tipped to leave the Turkish League this summer and Jose Mourinho and Chelsea appear to be ready to offer him an exit out of his club.

The move for Telles would seem a surprise to most as Mourinho’s prime candidate to replace Luis was Augsburg’s Baba Rahman but talks have been something of an impasse, with the Bundesliga club reportedly playing hard ball over a fee. The Chelsea boss now wants to look at other options.

Turkish Football are now claiming via Squawka that Chelsea are interested in Telles and negotiations have even reach an advanced stage.

Metro is also claiming transfer guru, Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed Chelsea are actually close to landing Telles, who is viewed as one of the best in his role.

Should the 22-year old sign for Chelsea, he will be expected to fight for a starting place with right back turned left back Cesar Azpilicueta who has made the left back spot in the Blues’ first team his own. However, Telles may suffer the same fate as Luis – inability to dislodge Azpilicueta as Mourinho really rates the Spaniard highly. But he will be a perfect understudy and will have some cup games under his belt.

Chelsea are unlikely to face any real competition for the left back’s signing and if these reports are true, then Mourinho’s team would be looking to seal the deal for the young aggressive defender before their FA Community Shield clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

Although Baba looks a better option, the Blues do not want to take things want granted and keep haggling over a fee with Augsburg with the season opener drawing nearer.

Unlike last summer, Chelsea have not really done a lot of recruitment, with Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic their major signings so far, after the Colombian joined on loan from Monaco and the Bosnian goalie followed suit on a permanent basis from Stoke.
