Wenger French Connection Working, Arsenal To Beat Chelsea To Signing Of Ligue Un Player
Reports emanating from Italy and England suggest Arsenal have tabled a bid to sign out of favour Paris Saint Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
During the summer, Lavezzi emerged as one of the transfer targets of Arsene Wenger but all the Gunners attempt to sign the Argentine failed.
However, it is believed that Barcelona will also attempt to sign the player in January when their transfer ban would have elapsed, per talkSport. Talks are currently on-going between Barcelona and Lavezzi.
The Argentine is in the final year of his contract and will leave on a free transfer if he is not sold in the January transfer window. The French Champions will be looking to cash him on in January.
Arsene Wenger has been a big admirer of the 30-year-old and Arsenal are working behind the scene to snatch the player away from Barcelona, as per Calciomercato.
Lavezzi has been a fringe player at Paris Saint Germain since the Angel Di Maria joined them from Manchester United. he is currently unhappy about his situation and is keen on playing regularly.
Given the current form of Arsenal players, there is no telling of Lavezzi can play as a first team player but it is highly unlikely.
Meanwhile, the Gunners will be hosting Everton in the Premier League this weekend. A win for them may see them at the top of the Premier League log.
