Wenger on the verge to sign Juventus CB, player eager to move out in January, Van Gaal to lose out

Arsene Wenger is hoping to strengthen defence by signing Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani. With Mertesacker and Koscielny over 30, Arsenal’s manager is hoping to bring young talent to mould them into the required defensive role for Arsenal.

Rugani hasn’t played a single Serie A match this season and the only field time he received was as an 89th minute substitution in the Champions League. The defender is finding it difficult to attain first team chances against Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini. With little or no chances of getting on-field action, he would be eager to move out of the club for greener pastures.

He had been anticipated as being one of the most promising young talent of Italy but since his complete absence this season, his abilities might catch rust. The Italian International has had an impressive 2014-2015 season at Empoli which led to his name being included in Serie A’s official team of the year.

Juventus Manager, Max Allegri however, has expressed reluctance to let Rugani leave. After a 3-0 victory against Palermo in November, the manager said, “He will stay at Juventus for the next ten years, as he represents our future. At the moment he is in competition with the three defenders of the Italian national team, so that it’s difficult to give him a chance, but his moment will arrive. I like the way he’s training, he’s improving a lot.”

Rugani being 21 has years of football ahead of him, and it would be unwise for the youngster to wait for his chances at Juventus. This is why Arsenal becomes the perfect club for him, where Arsene Wenger, will nurture and train him into a well moulded centre-back.

Manchester United is also said to be in contention for the youngster and Arsenal should make a move soon if they are to have any chances of bagging the defender.

The Gunners are currently 2nd in the league trailing Leicester City by 2 points. The London club has a big chance of winning the league this season, and they would need as much reinforcement as possible and a talented defender like Rugani would be the perfect addition to their squad.
