Wenger Reveals Ozil and Sanchez Are not Close to Agreeing New Deals, Will We Lose Them?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that two of the club’s superstars are not close to agreeing new deals with the club. Reports recently suggested that the North London club has offered new contracts with improved wages to Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

However, Wenger has clearly stated that none of them is close to agree a new deal with the club. “They are not close,” Wenger said.

Both players have also been recently linked with moves away from the club in media. It has been reported that Barcelona are interested in signing Mesut Ozil and have already established contact with Ozil’s representatives.

Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez has been linked with a move to Chelsea, among other clubs. Ozil, who currently earns £140,000 a week with the Gunners, arrived at the club 2013 and his current deal expires in 2018.

Sanchez is the second biggest earner at the club with £130,000 a week wages and his contract also runs until 2018.

They both have been offered new contracts with £180,000-a-week wages by the North London club, but in a worrying sign to the club fans they are yet to commit to the club on new deals.
Arsenal’s constant failures to win major silverware at European and domestic front could prove to be a deciding factor in players’ futures at the club.
