Wenger Set To Use French Connection To Beat Chelsea To Signing Of Griezmann, £43.5m Deal On

Arsenal continue to look at more ways to bolster their attack in preparation for the new season as they have shown grown and increased interests in the acquisition of Atletico Madrid’s forward cum hitman, Antoine Griezmann. The Gunners failed to bring in a forward during the January Winter transfer after a poor first half of the last season, and they eventually finished 3rd in the log behind Chelsea and Manchester City. However, there are beliefs that a new signing in a striker of Griezmann’s quality could increase their chances of effectively challenging for the next League title.

The 24 year-old France international finished in 3rd place on the La Liga highest goal scorers sheet at the end of the season, and is also been monitored by Chelsea who wants to bring him to the Stamford Bridge. Arsenal will have to battle the Blues in the activation of the release Clause release which is valued at £43.5 million Pounds. The former Real Sociedad forward is also being targeted by Bayern Munich and Manchester United, and securing a successful move to the Emirates for him won’t come easy.

The Gunners currently have Giroud as their frontman, with Welbeck as assistant, but the French man hasn’t been able to fire his side to much needed level with his inconsistencies in front of goal. He also came under heavy criticism from Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry who claimed the club can’t win the EPL title with a type of striker like Giroud. Wenger is known to be prudent in his transfer dealings, and it looks like a doubt if he would eventually trigger the huge release clause attached to Griezmann’s new contract.
