Wenger Will Not Sign Karim Benzema – Hints Santi Cazorla

With Wenger under pressure from all quarters to sign a striker in the summer transfer window, the side’s midfielder, Santi Cazorla has hinted that a striker might not arrive Emirates for next season, despite rumours linking the club with Madrid’s Karim Benzema. Cazorla revealed,

“Benzema is a great player. Every side would like to have him but I think the manager already has his team made and probably he is not looking for another striker. Benzema fits into any team. The good players fit well in every side. He has quality and would adapt great.”

Arsenal ended last season in 3rd place, and they have been consistently top 4 regulars in past seasons. But the fans want more, and Wenger gets questioned often for his transfer policies. Their striking department is short of quality attackers, with the side’s sole recognized striker, Olivier Giroud scoring just 14goals in 27 League appearances last season. While Walcott was sidelined for a good part of the season. It is believed that Arsenal really need a striker of high class who can find the back of the net regularly if they want to win the League, their last win having come over 10 years ago. And Benzema fits the mould of such type of striker.

Arsenal legend and former striker, Henry Thierry was vocal of the club’s need for a striker who can win them the League, saying Giroud isn’t one. Wenger however continues to have faith in his team, one that has been boosted following their F.A Cup victory over bitter rivals, Chelsea.

The Gunners won the match via a sole goal from Oxlade-Chamberlain, making it their 2nd successive F.A trophy. Benzema has also put an end to any speculations that he could leave Madrid this summer. And Wenger has publicly confirmed that the club isn’t in talks with Benzema either. But Arsenal badly need a striker, as the current crop of attackers will need an additional force in order to do better in the League next season.
