WORLD Class Striker On The Way? United Offers €224,000-A-Week To World Cup Winner
Last season, Louis van Gaal was in possession of three top-notch hitmen – in his ranks but presently, he is left with only one, which is Wayne Rooney. Dutchman Robin van Persie has left for a new adventure in the Turkish League with Fenerbahce, while Radamel Falcao – who pathetically flopped at Old Trafford last season – is now one of Jose Mourinho’s charges at Stamford Bridge.
The departures of the aforementioned duo have left Manchester United short of firepower upfront and as such, the need to bring in a top-class centre forward in order to boost their chances of any silverware this season is paramount. They have so far been linked with several European top strikers including Bayern Munich’s prolific goalscorer Thomas Muller – although nothing really has so far materialised.
The Red Devils have already signed one of the Bundesliga champions of one of their star player in Bastian Schweinsteiger earlier in the summer, and the Bayern hierarchy have confirmed they would not be selling any of their stars to the Premier League club anymore this summer.
However, that has not discouraged United in their pursuit of Muller and they have revived their interest in the German World Cup winner, as per reports. Citing reports in Germany, Metro says the prolific goalscorer has been offered €224,000-a-week by the Red Devils to join them.
Van Gaal was the one who gave Muller his debut for the Bavarian club when the Dutchman was in charge of Bayern and the German ace has admitted in the past he would love to work under the former Netherlands international manager once again.
Muller’s signing will send a huge statement of intent to United’s Premier League rivals that Louis van Gaal is indeed ready to return the Red Devils to its old days of glory.
The forward has been a consistent performer for both club and country. Last season, he managed an impressive haul of 21 goals and 18 assists in 48 games for the Bavarian champions.
