Jamaican winger, Leon Bailey was wanted by Chelsea in the summer confirms the players dad, Craig Butler.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old Jamaican winger was approached by Chelsea in the summer transfer window and the signing was almost completed but was turned down at the last minute by the player and his dad who acted as his agent.<\/p>\n
The Jamaican Under-23 international chose to move to Belgian club, Genk instead and Craig Butler has revealed why this had to happen.<\/p>\n
He said that Chelsea at the time had developed a relationship with lesser Belgian club Mouscron and Chelsea have used the place as a grooming ground for their young players and he and his son did not want to go that route as they saw that the boy was way better than a player who deserved to be loaned to a lesser Belgian club. He told Belgium\u2019s Sport Wereld that, \u201cChelsea wanted him, but Leon did not want to be loaned to Mouscron.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n The relationship of Chelsea with Belgian club Mouscron has been since confirmed as Chelsea presently have young defender, Cristian Manea there on loan.<\/p>\n Leon Bailey originally joined Genk in 2011 but had to leave when they were raided by the country\u2019s Labour Ministry and they could not find the player\u2019s agent who brought them in to the country and had apparently been harboring them illegally.<\/p>\n The player has since then moved to Ajax and then to AS Trencin and has been undaunted as he keeps churning out impressive performances and might even still be rewarded with a permanent move to Chelsea to make the first team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Jamaican winger, Leon Bailey was wanted by Chelsea in the summer confirms the players dad, Craig Butler.
