Amidst the recent turmoil that has mired Chelsea leading to the speculation that his position at the club is under threat, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has asserted he will still be in charge at the west London club even if he fails to steer them to a top-four finish, as per the Daily Mirror.<\/p>\n
Mourinho’s side have endured a torrid start to the campaign, having won just twice in the league this term. However, Saturday’s 2-0 home victory over Aston Villa ensured that the Blues now have 3 in nine league outings and are placed in 11th place on the log, ten points behind leaders Manchester City.<\/p>\n
Despite the bad results, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich issued a public vote of confidence in his manager, the Russian’s first in his 12-year spell at the west London club.<\/p>\n
Now Mourinho has maintained confidence he is the right man for the job and that he will be in charge of the Blues for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n
“No. I met the owner before dinner so, when I went to dinner, I knew,” <\/em>the Portuguese boss said when quizzed whether he would get the boots after Chelsea’s defeat to Southampton.<\/p>\n “But even before that, I knew what brought me here.<\/em><\/p>\n “I know the conversation we had two years ago. I knew what made me sign a new contract, and the reasons the owner and board decided to give me a new contract.<\/em><\/p>\n “They didn’t have to. I still had two years, so they didn’t have to give me a new contract. So what I know is what I know from them.<\/em><\/p>\n “Obviously, after a bad result – which is not the first bad result of the season – I was far from happy. Far from it. But I never felt about it.”<\/em><\/p>\n Having said that, Mourinho will be very pleased with his side’s display after coming out victorious against Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
