Arsenal have reportedly not lost hope in signing Napoli striker Gonzalo Higua\u00edn even after the player\u2019s agent claimed there is no possibility of his client leaving Napoli before his current contract expires.<\/p>\n
Higua\u00edn, who has his current contact with Napoli running until 2018, has been Arsene Wenger\u2019s long term target and currently the ideal candidate to compete with Olivier Giroud.<\/p>\n
The Argentinian has heavily been linked with moves to Arsenal and Bayern in recent months but has remained loyal to Napoli despite high profile offers.<\/p>\n
Ealier this month he admitted he has received offers to leave his club but had been convinced to stay with Napoli due to the good working relationship with manager Maurizio Sarri.<\/p>\n
“Sarri? He convinced me with his sincerity – it took five minutes for him to convince me to stay, and he got the best out of me,” he said.<\/p>\n
His agent Nicolas Higua\u00edn, who is also his brother, had reiterated the claims by stating there is no possibility that his brother will leave the Serie A club anytime soon.<\/p>\n
“We have a contract and there’s no chance of playing elsewhere, but we can’t think about the Champions League now, but just about playing every game,” Nicolas said. “When Gonzalo plays it’s normal that there’s a high chance of scoring goals, he’s having a great season.”<\/p>\n
Although Arsenal have decided not to give up in chasing for Higua\u00edn\u2019s signature, the have ruled him out as their No. 1 target as they wait for him to get ready for the next move. According to Spanish website Fichajes.net, Arsene Wenger has told the clubs directors to pay what it takes to sign the Argentinian.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Gunners’ boss has made bolstering his forward line his main priority despite Olivier\u00a0Giroud’s fine form in front of goal this season,\u201d Fichajes.net claims.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd though the\u00a0Serie\u00a0A outfit are reluctant to sell the Argentina international,\u00a0Wenger\u00a0has insisted the north London hierarchy break the bank to get their man.\u201d<\/p>\n
Higua\u00edn has been in a stunning goal scoring for this term, scoring 26 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions. Wenger seems to be determined to secure his services because Higua\u00edn makes sense as his priority in the next transfer window.<\/p>\n
And because upgrading Arsenal\u2019s attacking line seems to be his priority, the Frenchman will do anything it takes to bring the Argentinian to north London.
