Antonio Conte\u2019s Chelsea fell one game shy of creating a new Premier League record when they lost 2-0 at Tottenham last night.<\/p>\n
The Blues were hoping to reach 14 successive wins in the top flight but were beaten by their north London rivals.<\/p>\n
But Chelsea stay top of the pile after the defeat ahead of Liverpool in second spot, and Spurs jump to third in the table following their triumph at White Hart Lane, made possible by two goals from midfielder Deli Alli.<\/p>\n
The win means Manchester City drop to fourth spot and Arsene Wenger\u2019s Arsenal are edged out of the top four into fifth spot following their 3-3 draw at Bournemouth the night before.<\/p>\n
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino<\/strong> says be believes his outfit can mount a Premier League title challenge on the back of the victory.<\/p>\n He said<\/strong>:<\/p>\n \u201cI think our performance showed that we can be competitive and we can achieve big things. We are very pleased because the most important thing for us was to show great character and to be very competitive.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Stamford Bridge star Cesar Azpilicuet<\/strong>a, who was in action in all of the 13-game victorious run, says he and his team-mates are frustrated at the deft but will take away some positives from the loss.<\/p>\n He said<\/strong>:<\/p>\n \u201cWe were expecting to win the game but we go away with no points so obviously we are disappointed, so we have to learn from this and come back much stronger.”<\/p>\n \u2018It is very difficult to analyse, it is better to have time to do that, with the manager and the staff, and then improve on what we didn\u2019t do well. When you lose you can improve a lot of things but even when we had the 13 games in a row we were trying to improve.
