Everton have announced that English defender John Stones could be out for up to four months with an ankle injury. Stones picked up an ankle injury in the Toffees 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The ankle will require a surgery and coach Roberto Matinez has confirmed it could take up to 10 – 14 weeks before Stones returns to action.<\/p>\n
\u201c<\/em>We expect him to be out for probably the next 10 to 14 weeks depending on how everything goes.”<\/em> He said<\/p>\n ” It<\/em>\u2019<\/em>s a clear injury <\/em>\u2013<\/em> not a complicated injury. Obviously, it<\/em>\u2019<\/em>s a little bit of a setback because you don<\/em>\u2019<\/em>t want to lose any players, but in John<\/em>\u2019<\/em>s case we were very worried in the moment that it happened because those injuries can become a little bit difficult to treat.”<\/em><\/p>\n \u201c<\/em>But this one is going to be straightforward and we are already counting down the days for him to come back and we<\/em>\u2019<\/em>ll make sure he comes back stronger and ready for the final and most important part of the season.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The 20-year-old damaged his ligaments in the Everton’s defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
