Board Have Reportedly Approached Manager to Take Over United in the Summer, not Mourinho

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been touted as the favourite to take over from Louis Van Gaal at Man Utd in the summer.

However, the latest report suggests that the Red Devils are not interested in bringing Mourinho to Old Trafford and have instead approached another Premier League manager.

The Sun claims that United board have approached Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino to take over the hot seat at the club in the summer.

The Argentine manager has been in demand due to his impressive work with Spurs during last two years. He has led them to the second spot in league table this season and the North London club are genuine title contenders.

His policy to promote youth talent has also drawn praise from many quarters.

He is currently under contract with Spurs until 2019, and the North London club are already trying to tie him down to a new and improved deal.

United will need to pay a substantial compensation fee if they intend to bring Pochettino to Old Trafford. After weeks of speculation over Jose Mourinho’s taking charge of Red Devils, this may come as a surprise. However, insider reports suggested that many board members prefer Pochettino over controversial Mourinho.
