Man Utd Lineup vs. Chelsea – Mata in Starting XI, Fellaini Finally on the Bench

Man Utd will travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Sunday. The Red Devils finally seem to have hit some form and have scored six goals in their last two games.

Their 3-0 win over Stoke City was one of their best performances of the season. United will look to keep their momentum going and maintain their pace in the race for top four.

A defeat might stretch the difference between them and the top four up to eight points.

Team News:

United are slowly but surely getting their players back from the treatment table. Phil Jones has joined first team training.

But Bastian Schweinsteiger remains out with the injury he sustained during the FA Cup win over Sheffield United.

“There is some light at the end of the tunnel, I think,” the manager told MUTV. “Jones is coming back. He has trained today [Friday] with the first team, so that’s good. Rojo is doing well. It’s not that he can train with us but, still, he is doing well. Shaw is doing well, and Valencia is doing well, so it’s not bad. Schweinsteiger is still out, yes.”

Predicted Lineup:

Goalkeeper:

David De Gea is an obvious pick.

Defence:

Matteo Darmian put in a solid performance in the win over Stoke City, and he will start at the right-back spot. In the absence of any experienced option, youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson will keep his spot at the left-back.

Phil Jones has joined first team training, but this might come too soon for him.

Daley Blind and Chris Smalling will form the centre back pairing for the Red Devils.

Midfield:

Van Gaal would prefer to play two defensive minded midfielders at Stamford Bridge. Michael Carrick will keep his spot, but Marouane Fellaini might make way for Morgan Schneiderlin.

Juan Mata has been impressive for past two games, and he is expected to keep his number ten spot.

Forward:
Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial both scored against Stoke City, and they are expected to keep their place in the starting eleven.

Wayne Rooney will lead the attacking lines for the Red Devils.

Predicted lineup: De Gea, Darmian, Blind, Smalling, Borthwick-Jackson, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Mata, Lingard, Rooney, Martial
