Neymar to United? Only in a world-record transfer as Barcelona wants to increase his release clause to €220m

Neymar’s future at Barcelona has been the subject of widespread speculation following what looks like stalled negotiations between Neymar’s representatives and the Catalans. Neymar has been asking for a new deal inclusive of a better pay package.

Neymar’s demands have come at a time when Barcelona is struggling with financial strains, uncertainties about a shirt sponsor and tough financial regulations which even bar the club from signing new players in the January transfer window.

The delays arising out of this scenario have fuelled speculation and uncertainty regarding the Brazilian International’s future at the Nou Camp with the star striker being linked with a potential move to the English Premier League giants Manchester United or the money rich Ligue 1 side Paris St German.

Barcelona has seemingly not taken for granted the interest from the likes of Manchester United and Paris St German both of whom are reportedly ready to meet both Neymar’s 190 million pounds price tag and his desired salary demands. In fact according to Neymar and his representatives Manchester United had tried to sign him as early as from last summer.

Despite having been unsuccessful in landing Neymar, the Brazilian International’s dad recently confirmed that Manchester United interest in Neymar is still alive.
However in a bid to secure and have Neymar at Nou Camp, Barcelona is reportedly ready to hike Neymar’s release clause in a new deal running up to2021 that will be signed in the summer. This means that only Lionel Messi’s release clause will be higher than Neymar’s. This according to Mundo Deportivo will scare off the clubs sniffing around the Brazilian’s potential availability.
