Deal Close: Arsenal set to stun Jurgen Klopp with £30m transfer of Granit Xhaka

Arsenal is set to trigger a deal that will send Borussia Monchengladbach star midfielder Granit Xhaka to The Emirates Stadium. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will not be very amused as Liverpool has reportedly held talks with the 23-year-old Swiss international.

However, Xhaka has been linked to a move that will bring him to the London giants instead.

The Swissman has played 35 games this season for Monchengladbach and has been one of the most efficient players since arriving to Germany. Although he has only scored 3 goals and handed out one assist this season, he is a master midfield mind.

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager, is looking to add Xhaka and rebuild his midfield. Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are almost certain to depart ways with The Gunners, leaving a huge gap to fill. Xhaka is has a £30 million price tag on him but Wenger is sure he is worth the money.

Arsenal is looking to finish the deal and beat Liverpool to it as they are trying to finish all negotiations before the Euro 2016 tournament kicks off. If the deal falls through, Xhaka will be the third highest transfer fee Wenger has ever made, behind Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Xhaka has helped Monchengladbach secure a spot for Europa League next campaign but is now looking to play Champions football, making Arsenal a better fit than The Reds.
