Arsenal Aims To Complete Signing Of £25m Rated World Cup Star

Arsenal have renewed their interest in 22-year old Portuguese international, William Carvalho according to the Telegraph. Carvalho, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League since the last transfer window, is also attracting the attention of Manchester United.

Wenger is reported to be interested in testing the resolve of the Portuguese club as he hopes to shore up his midfield. The Telegraph reports that the Frenchman is set to put in another bid before the current window closes in another three weeks.

Wenger has never hidden his desire to fortify the defensive areas of his team, reiterating his desire via several pressers. Regulars like Arteta and Flamini have suffered injuries during the course of the campaigns, which has given Coquelin a rare opportunity to prove himself since being recalled from his loan move to Charlton.

While many Arsenal fans have praised to high heavens the high work rate of Coquelin in matches he has featured in so far, it remains to be seen how he performs against the big teams like City and Tottenham in coming weeks. He is no doubt a disciplined midfielder, staying back to protect the defence when other attacking midfielders are creating chances and looking for goals.

Arsenal have let in some very cheap goals this campaign, and signing a midfield enforcer this window will help to seal all loopholes and provide a midfield balance. While winning the league this season is no longer in our hands, Arsenal could still secure top four spot and earn themselves a Champions League spot next season; but this won’t come without a fight from other teams.

The top four spot is however, not going to come on a platter as we need to sign a player of Carvalho’s quality as well as a reliable central defender before the window closes. 22 year-old Carvalho will command a transfer fee in the region of £25 million, which could be the major huddle in this transfer in particular.
