Arsenal Could Complete £15m Signing Of Tottenham Target

Arsenal are scouting powerful Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike ahead of a possible £15million deal in the January transfer window. Currently at Fenerbache, the Turkish side are underperforming this year with Emenike reportedly becoming frustrated with his current side.

The Nigerian star played at the World Cup in Brazil and impressed against Argentina and Bosnia. Now 27 years of age the striker is coming into his best form for a striker. He was linked with a move to Chelsea last summer while other Premier League teams were in for him despite his decision to remain in Turkey.

Emenike has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in the last 18 months, with Chelsea believed to be close to bagging him during the summer. But now Arsenal are the front runners for his signature with Turkish newspaper Milliyet reporting that Arsene Wenger is lining up a deal for the new year.

An option for the Gunners could be signing him in January meaning a bid in the region of £15m which could be deemed too high from the Champions League hopefuls. It is claimed that the Frenchman has asked his scouts to watch Emenike closely with Arsenal ready to spend £15million on him if he impresses.

If Wenger decides to wait until the summer he could land the forward for a cheaper price but could face competition from other European sides.

Wenger currently has Danny Welbeck leading the attack and the England forward has done well so far, bagging a hat-trick against Galatasary in their last Champions League encounter. But with bigger tests and more competitions to play after the New Year, Arsenal could do with some strengthening in attack.

French striker, Olivier Giroud is still expected to be out until the Christmas period. Everton was reportedly interested in also signing the Nigeria international as before landing Lukaku on a permanent deal in the summer.

The former Spartak Moscow player was also the target of Liverpool and Reading in 2013 but Arsenal currently stands in pole position to land the physical striker in January.

In 2012-13 season, Emenike scored the fastest goal in history of the RussianLeague, within 10 seconds of kick off in a 2-1 win over Alania Vladikavkaz on the opening game of the season.

Emenike has won the TTF First League [2009-10] with Karabukspor, Copa del Sol [2012] with Spartak Moscow, the Super Lig [2013-14] and the Turkish Super Cup [2014] with Fenerbahce

The 27-year-old scored 12 goals in 28 matches last season and picked up nine assists.
