BREAKING NEWS – Arsenal To Bid €56m For Benzema, Real Madrid To ACCEPT BID

Arsenal’s pursuit of a world class striker appears to be atop their priority list. They have been credited with a mammoth bid of €56 million for Karim Benzema according to Spanish paper Fichajes.

They have struggled to replace club legend and prolific frontman, Thierry Henry. Over the years, different strikers have come and gone with no one near as consistent as the Frenchman. Former captain Robin van Persie came closest to raplicating Henry’s form in his last seaon with the club. The Dutch star was undoubtedly talented but long spells on the fitness table ensured that he didn’t get enough consistency in the team to hit solid form.

Olivier Giroud the current first choice striker in the squad is a decent striker and was signed at a bargain £7 million from French side Montpellier, but an average return of 41 goals in 97 appearances cannot be compared to Henry’s 174 goals in 254 appearances.

The gunners faithful have been angling for an elite center forward and news that the club has bid for Benzema would definitely be music to their ears.

After the capture of Petr Cech, they need a world class striker to finish off the myriad of chances created by their talented playmakers. Karim Benzema has the profile of a world class striker that is not just a lethal finisher but also capable at linking up play and bringing in his team mates into play. Despite being judged to have had a poor campaign last term, he finished the season with 22 goals and 15 assists in 46 matches. His signing would be a coup for the current FA Cup holders and would firmly place them as genuine title contenders.
