Klopp’s 1st Signing Done as Inter Milan & Chelsea Target is Already in England, Will Complete Medical Today and Sign a 5-Year Contract

Marko Grujic officially becomes Liverpool player today as he will undergo a medical at Liverpool. Midfielder arrived to Liverpool on Sunday evening having already agreed a five-year contract with the Reds. Liverpool will pay to Red Star Belgrade a reported £5.1m fee.

Grujic will be loaned to Red Star back till the summer and will become first signing of new manager, Jurgen Klopp. Reds will receive 1 million euros (£730,000) back as a loan fee. Red Star have also negotiated a 10% sell-on clause.

Player flew to Merseyside today and finally confirmed on his Facebook account: “On 4th January I will become a Liverpool player”. Player will now apply for a work permit. Marko Grujic is a product of Red Star’s youth academy and made his first-team debut at the age of 17 in 2013.

Chelsea, Russian clubs Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow, Inter Milan were all interested in the player, but Klopp became personally involved and helped swing the deal in his favour.
