Marek Hamsik Could Be Manchester United’s Next Big Signing

Napoli’s woes doesn’t seem to end with their manager Rafa Benitez showing little concerns over the possibility of losing his job, but with the several players that have also been linked with out-bound movements away from the Italian outfit.

Marek Hamsik is the latest addition to the already swelling list of the club’s exit list with his agent’s recent claims that the Slovak is not really happy at SSC Napoli. This statement has alerted a host of Premier League big-wigs who have been closely monitoring situations surrounding the attacking mid-fielder.

The 27-year-old who already has 71 caps for his country has been a potential target for several English based clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea with Liverpool being a more recent suitor.

Reports have it that the Slovak is concerned by the not-too-encouraging start that the Italian club made this season which has also seen them fail to qualify for the Champions League after their loss to Athletico Madrid. Although Benitez has begun to get a firm grip over proceedings at the club with 3 consecutive wins, this will do little to allay Hamik’s fears, as the lack of continental action this season has escalated Napoli’s financial problems.  With this development, Benitez might even consider selling him to ease finances and will be looking to cash in on him by January.

Of all the Premier League based clubs that have shown interest in him, Chelsea, it appears will be the least concerned about his availability. The current Premier League leaders already boast of a strong and effective unit in their middle with erstwhile Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas, and former Benfica star Nemaja Matic. The Blues also have Raimires and Mikel Obi, who are holding up quite good for them. Arsenal also have some good legs in the middle of the park, although they have been eying embattled Real Madrid Midfielder Sami Khedera who it is envisaged will bring much more physical presence to the Gunners by January. But with recent news that AC Milan might be lurking around the German, Arsene Wenger may have just found an alternative.

Liverpool, who have just ignited their interest in the Napoli man also need a midfield helmsman with age beginning to tell on their ever dependable skipper, Steven Gerard, and though with keen interest in Chieck Tiote, the Anfield giants might be considering a double swoop by the New Year.

Finally, Manchester United. The Louis van Gaal tutored side have struggled to leave behind the woes of last season. With a host of big money signings this summer, things have started taking a new shape, but with the rate of incessant injuries ravaging the club, they will most likely rank amongst the most active spenders by January. Ander Herrera is already out to a rib fracture, Fletcher is yet to attain the bustling energy level he was once known for, Fellaini and Anderson haven’t had it good for months and Michael Carrick has just returned to light training. More so, with the signing of more resourceful midfield options like Vidal and Strootman proving too much of a task, Manchester United should just sign Hamsik up by January to ease up the troubles in the midfield.
